Alex Pereira was born in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, Brazil, on July 7, 1987. He grew up in a favela, and his early life was marked by poverty and violence.
Pereira began working as a bricklayer’s assistant and later in a tire shop when he was just 12 years old. He turned to alcohol to cope with the stress of his difficult life.
In 2009, Pereira decided to change his life. He started training kickboxing at a local gym. He quickly discovered that he had a natural talent for the sport.
Pereira’s training helped him to overcome his addiction to alcohol. He also became more confident and disciplined.
In 2015, Pereira made his professional MMA debut. He quickly rose through the ranks and won the Glory Kickboxing Middleweight Championship in 2017. He then won the Glory Kickboxing Light Heavyweight Championship in 2019.
