Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) deputy national communications officer Kweku Boahen says none of the proposed NPP running mates is a competitor or threat to the NDC plans of recapturing power from the ruling party.
After a hotly contested primary, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was named the NPP’s chosen presidential candidate for the general elections of 2024.
Just 48 hours after Dr. Bawumia, the Vice President, was elected to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 election as its flagbearer, names of contenders have surfaced to join him in breaking the eight.
During a discussion on Adekye Nsroma on UTV, Mr. Kwaku Boahen said based on the character, love and good works former president, John Dramani Mahama has done in the past, none of the suggested running mates of NPP stand a chance to compete with him.
According to him, the NDC are focus on winning the 2024 general elections and whatever happens with the NPP running mates doesn’t bother them a bit.
He added that Ghanaians are desperately crying for the return of John Mahama after President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led NPP government have messed up Ghana’s economy.
Mr. Kwaku Boahen called on religious leaders to speak up just as they did when things were tough under Mahama’s administration.

Relatedly, Kwesi Botchway Jnr says that the newly elected NPP flagbearer and Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has the sole prerogative to appoint whoever he deems fit to be his running mate.
Speaking in an interview on UTV, the National Communications Team member of the NPP said even though he would wish the Vice President chooses his running mate from the Ashanti Region, whoever Bawumia chooses is fine by him.
Kwesi Botchway Jnr urged NPP members to allow Dr, Bawumia make his own choise because he believes the Vice President would choose the right person he can work with.
