Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has received the support of Dr. Mustapha Hamid, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), who believes he has the best chance of winning the 2024 presidential election, in order to be the NPP flagbearer.
After casting his vote, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid spoke with Hanson Agyemang of Citi News and stated that Bawumia possesses the skills and traits necessary to be a successful candidate, such as charisma, experience, and competence.
“Bawumia is the only candidate who has a realistic chance of winning,” Dr. Mustapha Hamid said.
While acknowledging that there will be competition in the 2024 election, Dr. Mustapha Hamid expressed confidence that Bawumia will guide the NPP to victory.
“No election has been an easy run since 2000, and I doubt there ever will be,” Hamid said. “But Bawumia has the best chance of winning.”
Dr. Bawumia has declared that he is the most qualified candidate to head the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the general elections of 2024.
If he is chosen to be the flagbearer, he claimed that the governing party will have a better chance of winning the upcoming elections.
Speaking with the media on Thursday at his Accra home in advance of the NPP’s election of a new flagbearer on Saturday, Dr. Bawumia expressed great optimism that, following his productive, nationwide engagements with delegates, he will be voted on by party delegates to lead the party.
Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his support for party unity prior to this Saturday’s election, after earlier in the campaign he demanded a civilized campaign free of insults.
On Saturday, November 4, more than 200,000 NPP delegates nationwide will cast ballots to choose a presidential candidate for the 2024 contest.
Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh are the other contenders.
All four of the candidates signed a pledge on October 2 promising not to leave the party after the primary if they lost.
