The New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, has stated that the organization has moved past the past transgressions of Dome Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.

He declared that the former Minister of Gender and Children Affairs has been pardoned by the party.

Speaking on TV3, which is based in Accra, Mr. Frimpong Kodua stated that the party is now happy with Adwoa Safo.

“Yes, issues happened in the past and she came back to apologise to the party and now I can tell you that she is doing her work as Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya,” the NPP General Secretary said.

“So, so far as the party is concerned now, currently we are satisfied with what she is doing as a Member of Parliament for her constituency.”

Dome-Kwabenya constituents share varied reactions to Adwoa Safo’s apology

A parliamentary investigation was initiated in 2021 as a result of Adwoa Safo’s more than year-long absence from Parliament. The Speaker has not yet rendered a decision following the Privileges Committee’s 2022 report submission.

After the former Deputy Majority Leader expressed regret to the party’s grassroots for her absence, many supporters—especially those in the NPP—began to call for her dismissal.

“I take this opportunity in the name of God to beg you all,” on Thursday, September 14, Ms. Adwoa Safo stated in Twi during a video broadcast that was uploaded to Facebook.

“My regional executives, my constituency executives led by Chairman Bonsu, the headquarters of the New Patriotic Party, the General Secretary and the National Chairman and your executives, I beg you all.

“Supporters and sympathisers who love the party and love me and had great confidence in my constituency, I beg you all. Whatever has happened forgive me my sins.”

“Everything” between the NPP and the former Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, according to Mr. Frimpong Kodua, is good.
