According to the most recent Global Info Analytics Survey, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will receive the majority of votes in as many as 13 of the 16 regions in the contest to lead the New Patriotic Party as flagbearer.

Additionally, he shares eighty percent of the votes in the Oti Region with Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a businessman and unconventional politician who emerges victorious in the Ashanti and Central regions.

And the Vice President puts some distance between himself and his opponents, including a near-clean sweep of the votes in the North East region when he garners 90%, with the remaining 10% representing those who have not decided who to vote for (6%) or will not disclose their choices (4%). This is in addition to the Western region, where the two front runners came dangerously close to splitting the votes (31% for Bawumia and 29% for Agyapong).

The survey results indicate that Dr. Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh, the other two constants, are not given a dog’s chance in the race.

The two received no votes in any of the regions save for Addai-3% Nimoh’s in the Central region.

The survey’s overall conclusion, however, points to the potential for a runoff because none of the candidates was able to receive the 50% or more of the total valid votes needed to win the first round.

Between October 2 and October 11, 4,311 NPP delegates from all 275 constituencies participated in the survey, which revealed that Dr. Bawumia had the support of 43.5% of the delegates and Ken Agyapong had 23.5%.

The NPP goes to polls on Saturday, November 4 to elect a presidential candidate for 2024 general elections.

Relatedly, the polling places for the NPP’s November 4, 2023 presidential primary have been revealed.

These primaries, which will take place in the various constituencies across all 16 regions of the nation, will decide the party’s nominee for the general elections in 2024.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, and former Mampong Member of Parliament Francis Addai-Nimoh are among the contenders vying for the nomination.
