He landed his first major acting role in 1974, when he was cast as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli on the sitcom Happy Days. Happy Days was a huge success and Winkler became a household name. He played Fonzie for 11 seasons, from 1974 to 1984.
Since Happy Days ended, Winkler has continued to act. He has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including Night Shift (1982), Waterboy (1998), Arrested Development (2003-2006), and Barry (2018-present). He has also directed a number of episodes of television shows, including Happy Days, MacGyver, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
