Brian Ferentz is an American football coach and former player. He is the offensive coordinator at the University of Iowa. He is the son of longtime Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, under whom he works.
Ferentz was born on March 28, 1983, in Iowa City, Iowa. He played college football at Iowa as an offensive lineman from 2001 to 2004. He was a three-year letterman and started the final 25 games of his career.
After graduating from Iowa, Ferentz joined the coaching staff at New England Patriots. He served as a scout in 2008, an offensive assistant from 2009 to 2010, and also tight ends coach from 2011 to 2016. He also worked as a run game coordinator in 2015 and 2016.
In 2017, Ferentz also returned to Iowa to become the offensive coordinator. He has also coached the quarterbacks and wide receivers during his time at Iowa.
Under Ferentz’s guidance, the Iowa offense has been one of the most consistent in the Big Ten Conference. The Hawkeyes have ranked in the top five of the Big Ten in total offense in each of the past five seasons.
