Kevin Durant was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He began playing basketball at a young age and quickly emerged as one of the top players in his class. In high school, Durant was a consensus All-American and was also ranked as the second-best high school senior in the nation by ESPN.
After high school, Durant played one season of college basketball at the University of Texas. He led the Longhorns to the NCAA Tournament and was also named the Consensus National College Player of the Year.
