Plot

Alan Wake 2 is set 13 years after the events of the first game, with Alan Wake still trapped in the Dark Place, a nightmare world where fiction becomes reality. He is haunted by the dark presence that is taking over Bright Falls.  And he is determined to find a way to defeat it.

Alan’s only hope is to write a new story, one that will rewrite the past and prevent the dark presence from ever coming to Bright Falls. However, the dark presence is fighting back. And it is trying to stop Alan from finishing his story.

Gameplay

Alan Wake 2 is a survival horror game that focuses on combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. Players will use Alan’s words as a weapon against the dark presence. And they will need to use their wits to survive the Dark Place.

The game will feature a new combat system that is more focused on close-quarters combat. Players will also have access to a variety of new weapons. Including a flashlight, a flare gun, and a tomahawk.

Development

Alan Wake 2 was announced in December 2021. And it is being developed by Remedy Entertainment, the same studio that developed the first game. The game is being directed by Sam Lake. Who also directed the first game.

Remedy Entertainment has said that Alan Wake 2 is the “most ambitious game” the studio has ever made. The game is being developed using Remedy’s new Northlight engine. Which was also used to develop the studio’s previous game, Control.
