Political Commentator and National Organizer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Yaw Asani Tano, has charged the Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah to focus on his mandate and stop dragging people to the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

Speaking during a panel discussion on UTV Adekye Nsroma, Mr. Yaw Tano urged the Roads and Highways Minister to fix the deplorable roads in the country which are causing vehicular traffic and road accidents.

The National Organizer of LPG made this comments after Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah asked the EOCO to launch a thorough investigation into claims of corruption in the awarding of road contracts by Prof. Stephen Adei.

Prof. Adei asserted in the interview with TV3, which was aired on Friday, October 20, 2023, that applicants for road contracts are required to make a GH1 million up-front payment.

The former National Organizer of LPG claimed he knows many people who sold contracts given them because they are affiliated to a particular political party.

He asserted that there is nothing untrue about Prof. Adei’s allegations of corruption surrounding the award of road contracts. According to him, all Ghanaian institutions are corrupt and he knows the case against the Prof. Adei at the EOCO will amount to nothing.

Mr. Yaw Tano asserted that prior to winning the elections in 2016, Ghanaians believed so much in President Nana Akufo-Addo because he gave Ghanaians practical and gargantuan promises, but the people around him have made Nana Addo a monster.

Meanwhile, a statement by the the Ministry of Roads and Highways summoning Prof. Stephen Adei before EOCO, stated “These allegations are surprising, given that the processes leading to the award of road contracts are open, transparent, competitive, and in accordance with the law.”

The Ministry promised that the allegations would be thoroughly and objectively investigated in close coordination with EOCO.

The Ministry appeals to the general public to have faith in the investigation process and assures the populace that any wrongdoing that is proven will be punished in accordance with the law.
