Ethan Slater is an American actor, singer, and songwriter. He is best known for his roles in the Broadway musicals SpongeBob SquarePants, Be More Chill, and Spring Awakening. He has also released his own solo album, Ethan Slater.
Slater was born in Overland Park, Kansas, on June 2, 1992. He began performing at a young age, and appeared in a number of local theater productions. Ethan attended the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, where he began taking acting classes at the age of 9. He also participated in the theater program at Blue Valley North High School, where he graduated in 2010.
Slater went on to study musical theater at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, where he graduated in 2014. While at CCM, he appeared in several productions, including Next to Normal, Sweeney Todd, and Assassins.
Slater made his Broadway debut in 2016 in the musical Spring Awakening. He went on to star in the musicals Be More Chill and SpongeBob SquarePants. In 2022, he released his debut solo album, Ethan Slater.
Slater has won a number of awards for his work, including a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance in SpongeBob SquarePants. He is considered to be one of the most talented young performers on Broadway.
