Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, minister of foreign affairs and regional integration, has been admitted to the bar.
On Friday, October 20, 2023, Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey was one of the 1,092 newly qualified attorneys called to the Bar.
A sizable crowd of dignitaries, including the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, members of the diplomatic corps, and family and friends of newly called barristers, attended the ceremony, which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre.

On January 10, 2017, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey (born February 8, 1963) to the position of minister of foreign affairs.
She served as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and a Minister of State at the Ministry of Water Resources, Works, and Housing under John Kufuor while she was a member of parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom from 2013 to 2021.

The lawyer for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the 2020 election petition passed away today, according to a tweet on X by Asaase Radio.
Mr. Akoto Ampaw, who has been known as “Che Che” since he was a student at the University of Ghana, also served on the legal team for the New Patriotic Party in the 2013 Electoral Petition.
Akufo-Addo‘s lawfirm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co., counts him as a partner.
Mr. Akoto Ampaw has a sterling reputation in the legal community, particularly for his support of just justice and human rights initiatives.
He earned his LL.B. from the University of Ghana in 1973 as well as his B.L. from the Ghana School of Law in 1993.
