The Second Lady Samira Bawumia recently made a political statement, to which Ralph Agyapong, an attorney and a brother to Kennedy Agyapong, a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), responded.

Mrs. Samira Bawumia is heard in the aforementioned comment advising NPP delegates to disregard a “bitter, angry and satisfied” candidate who she implied did not even care if the party fell into opposition.

Lawyer Agyapong was asked why Kennedy Agyapong’s camp claimed credit for the Second Lady’s speech in an interview on Okay FM on October 19, 2023, despite the fact that she made no specific mention of anyone by name.

The Second Lady’s comments were directed at him because he insisted that the candidate in question was Kennedy Agyapong. He added that her remarks were derogatory toward the delegates from the Ashanti Region.

“We have taken her speech upon ourselves, do you know why? In this life everyone wants a fool to play with but nobody is willing to give birth to a fool,” he said.

He outlined how the Second Lady intended to mislead the ordinary polling station delegates who were struggling and frequently relied on Kennedy Agyapong for support with her extravagant lifestyle.

He continued by saying that the Assin Central MP has been employing his resources to address the needs of the nation and the welfare of its citizens.

The Second Lady’s extravagant attire at the event where she made these remarks was also called out by Ralph Agyapong, who implied that it cost more than the recent donation her husband, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, made to the flood victims in Volta Region.

Relatedly, according to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP is not a tribalistic party.

He claimed that if he wins the flagbearership contest on November 4 with a resounding victory, the idea that the party is an Akan party will be completely disproved.

The Vice President further revealed that he is the best choice to lead the party to victory in the general elections of 2024.
