A former signee of Lynx Entertainment and Ghanaian musician, Kuami Eugene has called for a cooperate support in the Ghana music industry to help push the industry to a higher level.
It is not a secret anymore that Nigerian music is dominating over our very music in Ghana and this has become a big worry to many Ghanaian musicians and industry players.
Speaking in a recent interview on Hitz FM, monitored by InsightNewsgh.com, Kuami Eugene revealed why Nigeria music is thriving across the world while Ghana music is struggling to dominate in Nigeria.
The Rockstar disclosed that while on a visit in Nigeria he only heard once when a Ghanaian song was played but he heard at around 2 A.M dawn. According to him, when he inquired, he was told they don’t space for other songs apart because Nigeria songs are so many.
“They don’t actually have space, and it is not like we live in a country one person drops a song at a time, more Nigerian artistes are releasing songs. But here in Ghana, ours is one person at a time,” he said.
He added that when it comes to the female musicians it is very sad. “You can’t have five ladies releasing songs at the same time. It should be one lady for a very long time, then you’ll another girl crawling then we’ll make space for her then she will be there before we make space for another girl. We have females making good music in this country.”
Kuami Eugene said he wished it wasn’t like that, according to him there should be space for every Ghanaian artist. He urged his industry colleagues to channel their energy into pushing other colleagues music instead spending time on X (formerly Twitter) beefing each other.
