Mahmud Kabore, a national communication team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo over his recent remarks regarding the affected people of Volta Region following the Akosombo dam spillage.

According to Mahmud Kabore, the president had only one business and that is delivering on his mandate because he was elected as the president of Ghana to serve the interest of Ghanaians.

He said President Nana Akufo-Addo‘s ‘You Don’t Vote For Me’ comment was totally unnecessary. The NDC communications team member claimed that the president’s comment is a clear breach of the presidential oath.

“The constitution doesn’t see President Nana Akufo-Addo as a electoral person. The constitution sees him as a presidential candidate. He didn’t go there as a NPP person but as the President of Ghana, so he had no business talking about party and elections. He went there to fulfill the Article 57 responsibility of the Executive, by ensuring the welfare and safety of the citizens which includes the residents of Mepe and all the affected communities,” Mr. Mohmud Kabore said.

Mr. Alfred Thompson, a former of Deputy Managing Director of the National Investment Bank (NIB), and an activist of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has defended President Nana Akufo-Addo’s ‘vote comment’ he made while on visit to affected residents in the Lower Volta Basin following the Akosombo dam spillage.

According to the NPP communication team member, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo‘s remarks regarding the spill from the Akosombo Dam that displaced over 26,000 people in the Volta Region, destroying farmlands and other valuable properties was to debunk the mischievous politics the opposition NDC are playing with the disaster.

Mr. Alfred Thompson claimed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is playing a mischievous role with the Akosombo Dam Spillage disaster.

The former Deputy Managing Director of NIB said the NDC are fond of taking advantage of every disaster to manipulates the minds of the vulnerable.

He claimed that President Akufo-Addo‘s ‘vote comment’ was very necessary and he said it at the right place.
