According to COP George Alex Mensah (Rtd), a senior police official involved in the alleged plot to oust the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has revealed that Chief Daniel Bugri Naabu plotted with someone to record their private conversation.
COP Alex Mensah (Rtd) speaking in a recent exclusive interview on JOY News PMExpress, said Chief Bugri Naabu is the masterminder behind the leaked alleged plot to oust IGP tape.
According to him, Chief Naabu, a former Northern regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) invited him over to his office promised to lobby for him [COP Alex Mensah] to become the next IGP.
He mentioned that Chief Naabu insisted on meeting him physically before he could present his name to President Nana Akufo-Addo to be considered for the IGP position.
“Bugri Naabu was lying, he called me. Asare said it at the parliamentary committee meeting. Asare said Naabu called him about 16 times. If I went to him, did he know that I was coming to him? So at what time did he go and buy the supposed recording machine that he is talking about. He and somebody plotted and put that recording machine there and called us to come because he knew he has plotted that thing there,” he said.
According to COP Alex Mensah, the former NPP Northern regional chairman conspired with someone to set them up but was unable to reveal the intentions of the Bugri Naabu for recording and leaking their private conversation.
Mr. Alex Mensah alleged that IGP Dampare knows something about the leaked tape. He suspects that Chief Naabu conspired with IGP Dampare to set them up.
