The Achimota Magistrate Court found the sixteen irate youths who were detained by the police and identified as members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) guilty of breaking into the UTV studios in Accra, which is owned by the Despite Media Group, in search of political activist A-Plus, and fined each of them GH200.

They were accused of rioting and criminal conspiracy. They admitted guilt to the accusations, and the court later found them guilty.

The outraged youth claimed that A Plus, real name Kwame Obeng Asare, a regular pundit on United Showbiz, had shown egregious disdain for the NPP by tearing apart on set a letter from the party raising concerns about the show. This caused the show to be delayed from airing.

The youth claim that the program has turned political.

The popular highlife singer A-Plus should apologize, according to the leader of the group that broke into the studio on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

16 of the thugs were detained after the police intervened.

Later, it was discovered that Ernest Owusu Bempah, a deputy director of communications, and other prominent NPP members had given the thugs orders to be led by the Klottey Korle Youth Organizer.

Meanwhile, NPP presidential hopeful and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has criticized the government over the recent attack on UTV by some 16 group of individuals.

Speaking in a recent interview on Skyy Power FM, monitored by InsightNewsgh.com, he strongly blasted the NPP leadership over the attack on UTV studios because they were unsatisfied with how the United Showbiz was run.

Mr. Agyapong also criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo who promised to liberate and protect journalists but has turned against the media.

According to him, the leadership of the NPP have allowed some people to tarnish the image of the NPP party.
