Kennedy Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central and prospective flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has shared his thoughts on President Nana Akufo-Addo‘s reluctant to re-shuffle under-performing ministers.
The only ministerial shuffle that President Akufo-Addo made was in August 2018 of his first term.
Since then, in response to claims that his government was overstaffed, he changed a few of his ministers and removed a few portfolios.
Speaking in a recent interview, monitored by InsightNewsgh.com, Agyapong said he has a big problem with President Akufo-Addo’s refusal to make some ministerial changes under his government.
According to him, he will re-shuffle his ministers every two months if he becomes the Ghana’s president. He explained that this proposed move is a measure to tamp down on corruption and complacency.
“I have a problem with that, that’s why some ministers are doing things with impunity. My re-shuffle won’t be 3years or 4years, it will be two months if the minister is incompetent or charged with a corrupt case,” he said.

Relatedly, Hon. Agyapong has pleaded with party delegates in the Western Region not to follow the recommendations of dishonest party officials when making their selections in the upcoming primaries.
At a rally in Takoradi to wrap up his Health Walk event, he made this appeal.
In addition to claiming that some NPP leaders in the Western Region sabotaged his campaign at the Super Delegates’ conference, where he did poorly, Agyapong also claimed that some NPP leaders are unable to criticize the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) because of their own involvement in corrupt practices.
At the rally, Kennedy Agyapong spoke to his supporters and urged them not to elect candidates who might push their party into the opposition.
The NPP has set November 4 as the date for the selection of the torchbearer for the party in the general elections of 2024.
