New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has declared Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has failed as an economist under President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government.
Quoting the Vice President’s popular remark he made about former president John Dramani during his tenure as president of Ghana, that “when your fundamentals are weak, your exchange will fail you,” Kennedy Agyapong trolled Dr. Bawumia for running away from commenting on the economy in his campaigns.
According to him, when he was making that remarks, under NDC the cedi rate to a dollar was GHC4 to $1 but now $1 is almost GHC12.
The maverick politician said because Dr. Bawumia has failed to recover Ghana’s economy, he now goes about defending himself as just a mate.
He added that he was expecting Dr. Bawumia to talk about the economy just as he did in 2016 but he is rather claiming credit for digitalization but runs away from the economy during his campaigns.
Hon. Agyapong narrated a story of one NPP polling station Women’s organizer who’s a tomatoes seller told him during his campaign in Western North.
According to him, the woman has vowed she will vote in 2024 if him [Kennedy Agyapong] is not NPP flagbearer. He said the woman explained that a backet of tomatoes which used to be sold at 10cedis is now selling 50cedis and this has collapsed her capital and she’s no longer working.
Hon. Agyapong said that such a tomatoes seller doesn’t care about digitalization but wants to see the economy improve.
Bawumia is a failure. He can’t campaign with the economy. All his message is on “Digitalization”. Kennedy Agyapong will always say the truth.🤭🫢🤭
