Elijah McClain was a 23-year-old African American man who was also killed by Aurora, Colorado police officers on August 24, 2019. He was walking home from a convenience store when he was approached by the officers and placed in a carotid hold, a chokehold that is banned by many police departments. McClain was also injected with ketamine, a sedative, by paramedics. He died six days later in the hospital.
