A national member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications team, Alexander Amoako Twum Barimah has thrown his support behind entertainment critic and political activist, Kwame A-Plus for tearing NPP’s letter to UTV to reform the United Showbiz program.
Few weeks ago, the New Patriotic Party’s letter to UTV received harsh criticism from Kwame A-Plus, who deems it to be without foundation.
He expressed serious concerns about the letter’s appropriateness and content, implying that it represents an effort to curtail press freedom and exert control over editorial viewpoints and media content.
A-Plus was upset with the party for trying to undermine the constitutional clause pertaining to media independence.
A-Plus tore up a copy of the letter and warned the political group not to ever send another intimidating letter as a sign of his frustration.
Following, the alleged NPP thugs with hostile intentions who invaded the studios of UTV on Saturday, October 7, 2023, abruptly halting the live broadcast of the weekly United Showbiz program, Mr. Twum Barimah in reaction commended A-Plus for boldly tearing into the NPP letter.
According to him, even though he doesn’t like A-Plus, he supports him 100% in this matter.
Explaining further, he accused the NPP of playing the victims card after they did similar thing for the late president Prof. John Atta-Mills and current NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.
The Private legal practitioner and former police officer, claimed the NPP trolled the late John Atta-Mills after he made a mistake in Parliament during a presentation which later went viral on social media.
Mr. TwumBarimah asserted that the NPP printed out T-shirts and inscribed the words of the late president and even hired some media personalities to criticize him on their political shows.
“Did NPP draw the content of the United Showbiz show to dictate to them how it should be done? The impunity and the kind of behavior these guys put up anytime they are reacting on issues and we don’t see where they are coming from,” he said.
