Sam Nartey George, a member of parliament for Ningo Prampram, claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lacks the necessary experience to win the 2024 election.
George noted that the current administration had reversed the economic gains made under former President John Dramani Mahama‘s watch in an interview with Accra-based Tv3.
George voiced his displeasure with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice president, in regard to his leadership of the Economic Management Team. He emphasized the necessity of a more practical and hands-on approach to economic management, saying, “When you are going in circles, you think you are doing something, but you come back.”
George also charged the NPP with using violence, citing the alleged targeted violence against Alan Kyeremanteng’s supporters as an illustration.
He expressed hope that Ghana’s current economic difficulties would be overcome by John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Additionally, the lawmaker called the vice president a “chew-and-pour economist.”
George argued that Bawumia lacks a thorough understanding of Ghana’s actual economic dynamics and heavily relies on economic theories and rote learning.
He stated, “Individuals like Bawumia don’t grasp that our economy isn’t solely textbook-based; all they do is chew and pour. Bawumia is a chew-and-pour economist.”
In other news, the attack on Accra-based TV station United Television (UTV), according to the founder and leader of Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, was a blatant display of power on the part of the attackers.
Sixteen people have been detained, according to the Ghana Police Service, for Saturday night’s invasion of the UTV studios.
On Sunday, October 8, 2023, Mr. Alan Kyerematen addressed the situation in a tweet and urged for the swift prosecution of all those responsible.
