Asamoah “Baby Jet” Gyan and Kevin-Prince Boateng had a falling out over why Boateng was kicked out of the Black Stars camp during the 2014 World Cup.

In a recent interview, Kevin-Prince Boateng admitted that despite his efforts on behalf of the entire team, no one supported him when he and Sulley Muntari, were expelled from the camp.

When Ghanaian players protested the FA and government over unpaid bonuses during the turbulent 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil, Boateng was making a reference to that situation.

Sulley Muntari and Boateng, who co-led the uprising, were both kicked out of camp following a particularly heated argument.

The saddest part, according to KPB, is that despite the fact that they were fighting for the team as a whole when the incident occurred, no one on their team came to their defense.

Asamoah Gyan, the team captain at the time, came out to defend himself following his comments.

He stated: “Kevin’s case happened at the training grounds between him and the coach in front of everybody. So that was the coach’s decision cos coach felt Kevin disrespected him several times with his chose of words. One thing Kevin didn’t know is we defended him behind the scenes several times.

“But on that day , coach couldn’t take it anymore and reacted. That was the first time I saw Kwesi Appiah get angry and reacted. So Kevin’ case was the coach’s call. That’s the truth as the captain of the team,”

Gyan was criticized by Ghanaians for not having the guts to publicly defend his teammates.

“I’m a big fan Capito… But the whole team should’ve boycotted the match and you were the captain. It’s one of the reasons our supposed leaders take us all for granted; we don’t show solidarity,” one netizen reacted.
