A top ranking member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a political risk analyst, Gabby Otchere-Darko has added his two cent to the recent held #OccupyBoG protest organized by the Minority caucus.
On Tuesday, the NDC MPs led thousands of Ghanaians to stage a demonstration against the Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, calling for his immediate resignation together with his two deputies.
In a reaction, Otchere-Darko has vehemently condemned the #OccupyBoG protest.
In a recent tweet sighted on his X (formerly Twitter) page, he claimed that the Central Bank of Ghana has done massively well even under these serious economic crisis which has hit all nations in last couple of years.
Mr. Otchere-Darko asserted that the Central Bank has taken the necessary steps to to rescue Ghana’s economy under a very difficult situation.
He said instead of the NDC MPs to appreciate the hard work done by Dr. Addison and his team for exhibiting the highest sense of duty and patriotism, the BoG boss and his two deputies are being bastardized.
He wrote, “Ghana is an interesting country. All across the world, the economic crisis of the last couple of years has seen central banks stepping in to do what is necessary, even if not orthodox, under a very difficult situation,to rescue national economies. Except in Ghana, where parliamentarians, including economists, lead a protest to bastardise a governor and his team who should rather be commended for exhibiting the highest sense of duty and patriotism. We are too eager to over-wallow in negativism as a positive way of showing love for country!”

Meanwhile, despite requests from the Minority NDC caucus, the governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has refused to step down.
In a brief statement, Dr. Addison denied claims of financial wrongdoing and announced that both he and his deputy governors would continue in their positions.
He called the recent #OccupyBOG protest in Accra unnecessary and criticized it.
