General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah has criticized the Minority in Parliament after they staged the #OccupyBoG protest yesterday.

During a panel discussion on Adekye Nsroma on UTV, Nana Yaa Jantuah said even though the #OccupyBoG protest was successful, however, their petition was sent to the wrong destination.

According to her, there’s no way the Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison would have come out to receive the petition knowing very well the petition was to force him to resign.

Nana Yaa Jantuah said the Minority should have sent the petition to the Ministry of Finance and hand it over to Ken Ofori-Atta instead.

Meanwhile, she also slammed the BoG boss for disrespecting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs by sending his security man to receive the petition on his behalf.

According to her, Dr. Ernest Addison could have sent any of his two deputies to receive the petition.

Relatively, following their absence on Tuesday, October 3, the Minority has vowed to take to the streets once more in the near future to protest and demand the resignation of Dr. Ernest Yedu Kwamina Addison, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and his two deputies.

The Minority had demanded, following a procession from Obra Spot near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange, to present its petition to Dr. Addison or at least one of his two deputies.

However, the Governor authorized Wing Commander (rtd) Kwame Asare Boateng, the Bank of Ghana’s Director of Security, to accept the petition on his behalf.

Dr. Addison and his two deputies, Elsie Addo Awadzi and Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari, were reportedly in a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, felt “disrespected” by the gesture and was not pleased.

He later gave notice that they would return and would not give in to their demands for the resignation of the three.

“We will come back again,” he said.

Dr. Ato Forson later added: “Until we see him, we are not stopping. This is just the beginning.”
