Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a North Tongu MP, has categorically stated that the Minority will see to it that BoG Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison and his appointees are prosecuted.

Countless Ghanaians have gathered at the Obra Spot for the #OccupyBoG demonstration, including Mr. Ablakwa, who claimed that this is just the beginning for the Minority.

“When he resigns, it sends a clear message that when you are given the opportunity to hold public office and you mismanage, you totally violate laws. You destroy livelihoods.

“You will suffer the consequences because his resignation is only the first of our demands. After that, we will make sure he is prosecuted,” he said.

The much-anticipated demonstration against Dr. Ernest Addison, governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), and his deputies has been repeatedly postponed.

According to a previous letter, the minority claimed that the central bank’s alleged printing of more than 80 billion for the President Akufo-Addo administration is the main focus of the protest.

They emphasized how this action led to a hyperinflation rate of 54.1% in December 2022, which created significant economic difficulties for Ghanaians.

The caucus also stated that approximately 850,000 Ghanaians have fallen into extreme poverty as a result of the central bank’s actions.

The minority claims that these actions caused the institution to suffer significant losses, including a loss of GH60.8 billion and negative equity of GH5.1 billion in 2022.

As of now, protesters have gathered at the Obra location for the demonstration, most of whom are wearing black and red clothing.

They can be heard singing “Revo Revo, revolution has a long way to go but has come to stay,” their well-known revolution song. Although cadres may come and go, the revolution is here to stay.

The Ghana Police Service has assured that proactive measures have been taken to guarantee the demonstration is proceeding without incident.
