Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has written a letter to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, pledging to file a report with the Office of the Special Prosecutor against him and his deputies, with regard to contracts awarded for the construction of a new head office for the central bank.

In the letter sighted by InsighNewsgh.com, Mr. Mahama Ayariga suspected the BoG boss and his deputies have overpriced the construction of the new head office of Bank of Ghana.

Mr. Ayariga alleged that Dr. Ernest Addison and his deputies want to take advantage of pocketing some money from the building of the new BoG head office.

The NDC MP for Bawku Central vehemently rejected the BoG boss’ use of “national security consideration” as a reason to refuse to respond to his questions properly.

Part of the letter read, “I suspect your team, in collusion with the contractors overpriced the project with a possible view of obtaining personal gains. I reject your use of “national security consideration’ as a reason to refuse to answer my questions properly. My decision to report you is in the view of your refusal to provide a proper response to my request for information pursuant to the Right to Information Request.”

Relatively, today, a demonstration will be organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Minority Caucus in Parliament to call for the resignation of Dr. Ernest Addison, governor of the Bank of Ghana, and his two deputy governors.

In spite of police orders, the #OccupyBoG Demo leaders insist they will march to the Central Bank’s premises to deliver their petition to the governor’s representatives.

The move comes after the Central Bank reported a loss of GH60.81 billion for the 2022 fiscal year and spent more than $250 million building a new headquarters at North Ridge.

According to the police, the protesters will assemble at Obra Spot to start the march, which will end at Independence Square.

Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s national communications officer, stated in a Citi News interview that the protest’s organizers would continue to the Central Bank to present their petition.
