Independent candidate contesting for president, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has paid homage to his long-standing friend Hon. Enoch Teye Mensah who passed away yesterday in South Africa.
E.T Mensah, a former council member and member of parliament died at the age of 77.
He had been unwell for some time and, according to reports, passed away in South Africa.
Mr. Mensah was well-known in Ghanaian politics and held the positions of Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency for more than 20 years.
The former Trade and Industry Minister took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to celebrate his good friend after he was confirmed dead yesterday.
According to Alan, ET Mensah would be remembered for his sterling performance as Mayor of Accra, Minister for Youth and Sports, and Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, at various times during the NDC term of office in government.
He added that the former Accra Hearts of Oak player and legend fought a good fight and has left an indelible mark in the history of Ghanaian politics.
“It was with a heavy heart that I received the news of the death of my long-standing friend Hon. Enoch Teye Mensah whom I affectionately referred to as my Chief of Staff. E.T as he was popularly known, made lifelong friendships with many on all sides of the political divide, even though he was a fiercely competitive politician. The late E.T Mensah would be remembered for his sterling performance as Mayor of Accra, Minister for Youth and Sports, and Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, at various times during the NDC term of office in government. He fought a good fight in his political career and has left an indelible mark in the history of Ghanaian politics. May the good Lord grant him eternal rest,“ he wrote.
