Giants of the Ghana Premier League Accra Hearts of Oak have expressed their sorrow over the passing of Enoch Teye (ET) Mensah, a former minister of youth and sports.
While receiving treatment in South Africa on Sunday, October 1, 2023, ET Mensah tragically passed away that evening.
The deceased, who served under the Jerry John Rawlings administration, was still Ghana’s longest-serving sports minister.
Before joining the Council of State, he also held the positions of Minister for Education and Minister for Employment and Social Welfare.

He served as a member of parliament from 1996 until 2016, when Sam George succeeded him in representing the Ningo Prampram constituency.
After passing away at the age of 77, tributes from near and far have flooded in, along with hearts of sympathy for the deceased’s family and loved ones.
“RIP. Our condolences to the family of our former player and former Minister of Sports, Hon. E.T. Mensah, who has been called to glory. Safe journey to your maker. RIP, sir,” the club wrote on Twitter.
The wife of former Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor, Theresa Kufuor, passed away at the age of 87.
Asaase Radio reported that the former first lady passed away earlier today, Sunday, October 1, 2023.
From 2001 to 2009, Theresa Kufuor held the position of First Lady of Ghana while her husband was the head of state.
J. Addo Kufuor, Nana Ama Gyamfi, Saah Kufuor, Agyekum Kufuor, and Owusu Afriyie Kufuor are among John and Theresa’s five children. They have eight grandchildren altogether.
Before getting married in 1962, the couple started dating after meeting at a Republic Day Anniversary Dance in London in 1961.
