After being accused of domestic abuse, Brazilian winger Antony of Manchester United is set to resume training.
According to what is known, the 23-year-old spoke with Greater Manchester Police on Thursday and was not subjected to any restrictions as a result.
United sources claim that he has offered proof to back up his vehement denials of the accusations.
In neither Brazil nor the UK has he been detained or charged.
United stated in a statement: “As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed.
“This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.”
Antony is not anticipated to report to practice on Friday and won’t be considered for United’s match against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday at Old Trafford.
Since being granted leave with pay by United to address allegations made by three different women, including his former partner Gabriela Cavallin, he has missed four games.
On September 4, Cavallin made allegations that Antony assaulted her “with a headbutt” on January 15 in a hotel room in Manchester, leaving her with a cut head that required medical attention. These allegations were published by the Brazilian news outlet UOL.
Additionally, Cavallin claims that when she was punched in the chest, a silicone breast implant was damaged, necessitating corrective surgery.
Following these two additional accusations, which Antony denies, came from Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana.
The 33-year-old banker Lana claimed during an interview with Brazil’s Record TV that Antony “pushed her against a wall” her at his home in Manchester in October of last year, causing her to hit her head.
“Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK and he continues to do so,” said United.
“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse.
“We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
