Former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has finally opened up on how he entered into politics.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Mpu Ne Mpu on UTV, Alan Keyerematen revealed that the former president John Agyekum Kufuor played no role in entry into the political space.

Alan’s comments have come to refutes claims that he was introduced into the political arena by Kufuor.

According to him, he refused a political appointment from the former president after he supported him to win elections in 2007.

He added that he was not interested in taking up any government appointment because he wanted to sit back and point out the loopholes in his administration so that Kufuor could address them.

He continued that he finally gave into the constant pressure from the ex-president to become Ghana’s ambassador to United Kingdom.

According to Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Alan Kyeremanten ought to have left the party a long time ago.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe expressed his opinion that Kyerematen’s chances of winning the 2024 elections as an independent candidate are slim and that the timing of his resignation was improper in an interview with Citi FM that aired on Eyewitness News.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe argued that Kyerematen’s protracted service in the Akufo-Addo administration might interfere with his hopes of running for president as an independent.

“Winning an election as an independent candidate will be a huge problem for Alan because all the appeals that he has made particularly to the youth will not wash and the reason is quite simple. He has been with the Akufo-Addo’s government for almost seven years and the time that Alan should have left that government, he didn’t.

“Alan should have left the government particularly when he realised the rot going on in the party and that would have automatically turned him into a leader in the future but he didn’t do that.”

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe also criticized the NPP’s leadership and the current state of affairs within the party. In his view, the party has strayed from its original ideals, allowing a number of harmful elements to thrive.

On Monday, September 25, Alan Kyerematen announced his resignation from the New Patriotic Party in order to run as an independent.
