The Long Shadow is a seven-part crime drama series based on the true story of the Yorkshire Ripper. The series tells the story of the police’s five-year investigation to catch Peter Sutcliffe, who murdered 13 women in Yorkshire and Manchester between 1975 and also 1980.
The series begins in 1975 with the disappearance of Wilma McCann, a 28-year-old sex worker. Detective Chief Superintendent Jack Heaton leads the investigation, but the police are unable to find any leads.
