The incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released press statement following Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from party and decision to contest in the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.

Earlier on, InsightNewsgh.com reported that the former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyeremanten announced his immediate exit from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In the most recent super delegates congress, he claimed that the party had not treated him fairly.

The former flagbearer candidate announced at a press conference in Accra that he would run as an independent in the general elections of 2024.

“Under the circumstances and given the context provided, I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate.”

Following his announcement which has generated mixed reactions on social media, the ruling NPP in press released stated that the party will officially respond to Alan’s resignation to the public tomorrow.

However, the NPP described Alan’s resignation as “unfortunate.”

Kyeremateng reaffirmed his commitment to tackling the nation’s urgent problems, such as social welfare, economic development, and job creation. He claimed that his choice to run as an independent was motivated by his conviction that using this strategy would enable him to more effectively advance the interests of the Ghanaian people.

His independent campaign poses a special challenge to Ghana’s established political system and has the potential to change the political landscape.

On Tuesday, September 5, Mr. Alan Kyeremanten declared his withdrawal from the second round of the presidential race, citing electoral irregularities, unfair treatment, and bias during the shockingly third-place finish at the super delegates’ conference.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Patricia Kyerematen has rallied her support behind Mr. Alan Kyerematen resignation from New Patriotic Party (NPP) and contest in 2024 elections as independent candidate.
