The #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest’s organizer revealed that people had approached protesters with offers of money and government positions in exchange for them ceasing their demonstrations.
According to Barker Vormawor in an interview cited on 3newsgh on Twitter, after the protesters turned down these offers, National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah threatened to arrest them and punish them severely if they continued their protest activities.
“We were offered not only money but appointments, and if we agreed to stop this, we were going to be free to do whatever we want,” Barker Vormawor asserted during the interview.

The seriousness of these accusations is increased by Barker Vormawor’s assertion that he has proof to support these allegations. “I have gone to the government, we have reached out, I have recordings,” he asserted.
He claims that while he was in the UK, the National Security Ministry contacted him and offered to pay for his flight in an effort to convince him to come back to Ghana for a meeting. Since this development was not previously made public, it is unclear how much was done behind the scenes to put an end to the protest.
On September 21, 2023, 49 people who were scheduled to participate in the #OccupyJulorbiBiHouse Protest were detained by the police and dispersed to various police stations.
A BBC reporter, his cameraman, and a Metro TV reporter were among those detained; however, they were later released.
The group is back on the street to continue day 2 of the protest, strongly criticizing the actions of the police.
Earlier on, according to Prince Elikplim Ganaku, the protesters’ attorney, almost all of the protesters who were detained by the police on Thursday, September 21 for attempting to march to the Jubilee House have been released.
At the 37 bus terminal, where they had congregated for the protest on Thursday morning, the “Occupy Julorbi House” protestors were taken into custody by the police.
