According to the country’s police chief, George Alex Mensah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is currently in power, is the best candidate to run Ghana’s government.

Mensah, who is running for the NPP‘s parliamentary nomination in the Bekwai constituency, praised the party’s history of enacting policies that directly assist the underprivileged in an exclusive interview with Asaase Radio.

Mensah fervently urged his fellow Ghanaians to keep the NPP in power in 2024 during the interview, highlighting the necessity of maintaining crucial programs like the Free Senior High School (SHS) program.

“I see the NPP as the best party that can help the country. The whole world knows what is happening. And we know what this government is doing to make sure that Ghana will be able to overcome all these problems. At least we still have free SHS, don’t we?” Mensah stated.

One of the NPP party’s most recognizable accomplishments is the Free SHS policy, which was implemented by the government in 2017. This program eliminates financial barriers to secondary education by providing free tuition, boarding, and meals to all Ghanaian public senior high school students.

The policy has won wide acclaim for leveling the playing field in education and guaranteeing that every student in Ghana, regardless of family income, has access to a high-quality education.

Additionally, it has drawn criticism for altering Ghana’s educational system, which faces issues like overcrowding in classrooms and subpar instruction.

In a related news, Alex Mensah has revealed that he plans to run for office in 2024 as a member of parliament.

He stated that he will run for office in the Ashanti Region’s Bekwai Constituency even though he hasn’t chosen which political party he will represent.

After 31 years of service, he is now officially retiring from the Ghana Police Service.

COP George Alex Mensah declared to Accra-based Angel FM that he will run for election to the House of Representatives to represent the Bekwai Constituency.
