Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that his focus is on working to seal a sweet victory at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Delegates Conference on November 4, 2023.

He indicates that he will not be distracted by recurring attacks by persons contesting him but will remain resolute in selling his message to the party’s grassroots he described as Kingmakers.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is considered the favourite in the November 4, 2023 primaries, has come under severe attack by businessman and lawmaker for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong. At the least opportunity, the loudmouth politician attempts to cast a slur on the reputation and personality of the Vice President.

Though Dr. Bawumia has consistently maintained his composure in the midst of these attacks he has cautioned his supporters to remain calm and focus on delivering on the campaign which will translate to a victory.

Speaking to NPP stakeholders in Goaso in the Ahafo Region yesterday, Dr. Bawumia stressed that it would be toxic for him to attack his opponents in an internal contest when the ultimate objective of every member of the NPP is to see the party defeat the opposition National Democratic Congress in 2024.

“I don’t believe in attacking my opponents and I won’t do that because it will be toxic and won’t be good for our party,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“This is an internal contest to elect our flagbearer, so why should I attack my opponents or say something against our party? I am running a very decent campaign. I am selling my ideas to delegates and I do that with decorum, with humility, with respect and without mentioning anybody’s name.”

No Insults: Embark on clean Campaign – Bawumia Tells Supporters

This is not the first time however that the Vice President has had course to restrain his supporters and urged them to engage in a clean campaign devoid of insults.

Two months ago, In a bold and direct demonstration of his commitment to a clean campaign in his quest to become the 2024 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), t Dr. Bawumia directed all spokespersons and assigns of his team to show maximum decorum to all other flagbearer hopefuls and completely avoid insults and rude comments.

He said it was completely needless to engage in a vitriolic campaign of insults and attacks on personalities and that that energy should be used in marketing the positive campaign message and the proven aptitude of his candidature.

Speaking during his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia noted: “we have a solid message we need to speak of so let us focus on that message and avoid all forms of insults. Even if we get insulted, don’t reply with insults, ignore the provocation and focus on our good message of development ad progress”

He continued: “being rude is a sign of weakness. It should you have no positive message to sell. It shows you have no superior argument to make. This is an internal polls to elect our flag-bearer so we need a clean campaign, which is devoid of insults and insinuations.

“We should not provide arsenals to our opponents, the NDC, to be used against us during the 2024 presidential and parliamentary election”, Dr. Bawumia cautioned.

The Vice President was of the view that the NPP would need a united front and oneness in order to make history by winning a hat trick of elections on December 2024.

In this regard, Dr. Bawumia said if the NPP mistakenly indulge in campaign of insults, it would create cracks, which could not be healed on time.

According to him, if the NPP insult each other and fight publicly, the NDC would take advantage of that to campaign against the NPP during the 2024 polls.

“We should not provide arsenals to our opponents, the NDC, to be used against us during the 2024 presidential and parliamentary election”, he warned.
