Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, a member of parliament representing the Ellembelle constituency, and Kwesi Bonzoh, the district chief executive, got into an argument over road construction.

The constituency’s problematic road is impassable, according to the lawmaker who also serves as deputy minority leader, and the DCE who lives nearby hasn’t been able to fix it.

In a video report by UTV, a furious Kwesi Bonzoh was seen arguing with Kofi-Buah and claiming that the road was still under construction and that the MP should not have made a big deal out of it.

The two politicians can be seen shouting at one another angrily in a confrontational manner, but some of their various entourages are seen holding them back to prevent possible fistfights.

Things almost spiraled out of control at one point when they both confronted each other and exchanged angry accusations in front of their supporters who had gathered to watch the confrontation.

An MP and a DCE have argued over development in their areas for the second time in recent weeks. Last month, it took the prompt action of the Tuobodom police to stop what would have been a bloody brawl between the local MP’s supporters and the DCE’s supporters over who has the right to replace a broken traffic light.

The Techiman North member of parliament, attorney Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, was in the district’s administrative center when contractors arrived with equipment to replace the broken traffic lights at her request. She promised to fix it during her 2020 campaign in order to decrease traffic accidents at the intersection in question, according to the locals.

To prevent the legislator from replacing the traffic light, Everson Addo-Donkor, the Chief Executive of the Techiman North District in the Bono region, issued an order to the police commander. This is because her government is not in charge.

This led to a confrontation between the supporters of the two politicians, with the MP’s supporters insisting that the contractor should proceed with the work and the DECE’s supporters objecting to it.

The police commander eventually ordered the contractor to leave the job site and leave his tools at the police station until the argument was settled.

Many Tuobodom residents were outraged by the development and vowed to see that the MP was able to keep her campaign promise to them, which would also put an end to the ongoing loss of life at the mentioned section of the busy road because there isn’t a traffic light.

In a video of the incident, some residents can be heard questioning whether the DCE truly cared about the community or if he was only acting in his own narrow partisan interests.
