Brandon Aiyuk is an American football wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He also played college football at Sierra College and Arizona State University, and was drafted by the 49ers in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Biography
Brandon Aiyuk was born on March 17, 1998, in Rocklin, California. He grew up in Reno, Nevada, and also attended Robert McQueen High School. In high school, Aiyuk played wide receiver, defensive back, and returned kicks for the McQueen football team. He was named first-team All-Northern Nevada and honorable mention All-State as a senior.
After high school, Aiyuk also attended Sierra College for two seasons. In his sophomore season, he caught 41 passes for 721 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was then named first-team All-Golden Valley Conference and was also a finalist for the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year award.
After his sophomore season at Sierra College, Aiyuk transferred to Arizona State University. In his only season at Arizona State, he caught 65 passes for 1,193 yards and also eight touchdowns. He was named first-team All-Pac-12 Conference and was also a finalist for the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year award.
Aiyuk was drafted by the 49ers in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft (25th overall). He started 10 games in his rookie season and caught 60 passes for 745 yards and five touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie Team.
In 2021, Aiyuk started 16 games and caught 80 passes for 1,075 yards and five touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl as a replacement for DeAndre Hopkins.
