The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has secure a temporary accommodation for Central Market Building (CMB) fire victims.
Recall InsightNewsgh.com reported that multiple stores in Accra’s CMB neighborhood, specifically those behind Kantamanto, were destroyed by a devastating fire that destroyed goods worth millions of Ghana cedis.
The fire, which broke out around 5:00 a.m. on a Sunday, has not yet been determined to have had a cause, but it was quickly put out by Ghana National Fire Service firefighters. However, serious damage had already been done, as several shops were destroyed by the flames.
ADO1 A variety of flammable materials were found at the fire site, according to GNFS Public Relations Officer Alex Nartey.
Due to their sizable losses, traders have expressed their frustration and disappointment.
The GNFS has warned merchants to use electrical appliances with care and to avoid keeping flammable materials in their stores.
According to the NADMO, the temporary accommodation will help the fire victims get a place to stay and restart life again until they find a permanent accommodation for them.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey constituency, Dr. Zenator Rawlings visited CMB following the fire disaster to have a first sight of the situation and console the victims.
She pledged to support the victims in whatever way she can but also cautioned them to be extra careful.

In other news, an ex-soldier of the Ghana Armed Forces, Captain John Kwame Jabari (rtd), has stated that the current nature of Ghana’s Army makes it extremely difficult for the staging of coups.
He explained that the sheer size of the army and how barracks are positioned in the country make overthrowing the Government through a military coup nearly impossible.
He was reacting to the news of military takeovers in some African countries, especially the West African subregion and whether or not a coup could be staged in Ghana.
