Multiple stores in Accra’s CMB neighborhood, specifically those behind Kantamanto, were destroyed by a devastating fire that destroyed goods worth millions of Ghana cedis.
The fire, which broke out around 5:00 a.m. on a Sunday, has not yet been determined to have had a cause, but it was quickly put out by Ghana National Fire Service firefighters. However, serious damage had already been done, as several shops were destroyed by the flames.
ADO1 A variety of flammable materials were found at the fire site, according to GNFS Public Relations Officer Alex Nartey.
Due to their sizable losses, traders have expressed their frustration and disappointment.
The GNFS has warned merchants to use electrical appliances with care and to avoid keeping flammable materials in their stores.
