Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a presidential candidate and member of parliament for Assin Central, has made it clear that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) actually lost the 2024 elections in 2022.

This assertion, according to him, was caused by the significant depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi at the time.

With its exchange rate falling from 7 cedis to 1 dollar to as much as 15 cedis to 1 dollar, the Ghanaian Cedi underwent a significant devaluation against the US dollar. This had a significant impact on the economy and caused a cascading effect that drove up the cost of basic necessities like food and fuel.

Speaking at a rally during his campaign dubbed “Showdown Unity Walk,” Agyapong asserted with assurance that the NPP had in fact lost the 2022 elections because of the extreme depreciation of the cedi.

He emphasized the wide-ranging effects of the currency devaluation, emphasizing how it had destroyed businesses, eroded middle-class Ghanaians’ savings, and reduced pensioners’ investments.

Hon. Ken Agyapong reassured the populace that he was an ardent NPP supporter who consistently put the needs of the general populace first and promised to work hard to stop a future economic crisis of a similar nature.

The NPP will hold its national delegate conference on November 4 in the hopes of choosing a front-runner who will represent the party in the elections of 2024.

As well as Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister of Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai Nimo, Kennedy Agyapong will face off against ardent party influencers.

The results of these polls will decide whether or not the party wins the upcoming general elections in 2024.

Meanwhile, in other news, following the apology from Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo to her constituents after her recent long absence from her duties, some residents have shared their varied views.

some Dome-Kwabenya constituents have decided not to vote for her again after she abandoned her work and traveled to US.

According to some of the constituents, Adwoa Safo only came to apology because election is near. They cited some issues facing the Dome-Kwabenya constituency which she left unattended.

However, some residents accepted her apology and decided to giver her another chance.
