Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bawku Central constituency has spoken on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Minority group’s #OccupyBoG demonstration following court injunction.

The #OccupyBoG protest which was initially planned by the NDC MPs in Parliament on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 saw the Ghana Police Service sought court to put an injunction on the demo after Minority lodged-head with the police on change of route.

The Member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) said the NDC court has not stopped or neither has it changed their routes for the #OccupyBoG protest.

According to him, the NDC MPs has also not changed their routes as opposed by the Ghana Police Service, however the only change is the date for slated for the demo.

“The courts have not stopped the demonstration, the courts have not changed the routes of the demonstration, and we have no intentions to change the route of the demonstration. This march will happen and will happen on the same route. It is only the date that will change,” Mr. Ayariga said.

Meanwhile, the protest against Dr. Ernest Addison, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has been rescheduled, according to the Minority in Parliament.

The National Democratic Party (NDC) lawmakers claim that the date has changed from Tuesday, September 5, to Tuesday, September 12.

The NDC MPs insisted that their protest march would take place in a press release that was issued by them and signed by their leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

According to them, the court’s decision on the police’s application for an injunction against their protest has been postponed until Friday, September 8.

The Caucus continued by saying that they would stick to their original course of action and that their route would not change.
