    Boy, 17, Nabbed With Wee In Kumasi

    A 17 YEAR old boy is in hot waters now after being arrested with 10 other suspects at a known Wee ghetto during a police operation. Kwadwo Adjei, the teenager and his cohorts were grabbed at Mayanka, Ahenema Kokoben, Sabin Akrofrom, Trede and Sabin Krofrom, all Kumasi.

    During the security operation, the police managed to find parcels and wraps of cannabis that were sellotaped, from the aforementioned ghettos.

    Those arrested alongside the 17 year old boy are Azuwia Abeng, 27, Lambeth Bellen, 28, Augustin Gbenik, 24, and Ceazer Agyiri, 27 years old.

    The other suspects in the firm grips of the law are Opoku Frederick, 19, Appiah Michael, 24, Francis Agyemang, 23 and Adjei Kwadwo, aged 17.

    The remaining suspects who were also apprehended by police included Amoako Sampson, 27, Bayuo Juba, 23, and Maxwell Boakye, 28 years old.

    According to a police report, all the suspects, would be screened and those found to be connected with the exhibit would be immediately prosecuted.

    The police also explained that the unannounced operation was mainly intended to flush out illicit narcotic drug peddlers and users from Kumasi.

    Similar Arrest

    In October 2022, similar arrest happened in Kumasi where the Ashanti Mampong District Police Command of the Ghana Police Service arrested a 14-year old boy and 10 other suspects in two communities in the Region for possessing illegal drugs.

    The 11 suspects were arrested at wee joints during a police swoop at Akyeremade, Zongo, and Tunsoum in the Ashanti Region.

    A police document sighted said that the police found some illegal drugs, including cannabis, popularly known as “wee, during the arrests.

    “The suspects were arrested with 4 pieces of partially smoked substances suspected to be Indian hemp,” it said.

    Also, the Ashanti Mampong District Police Command said that the arrests form part of efforts to stop the sale of narcotics and their use in the area.

    It stated that the 10 suspects included Richard Brako, 24; Mohammed Mubarak, 18; Allah Mohammad, 19; and Amin Rashwan, 19.

    It added that the other suspects were Isaac Acheampong, 40; Kwame Okyere aka Palapa, 36; Tulu Collins, 22; Stephan Kabera, 42; Ibrahim Yakubu, 26, and YeboahRehand, who is aged 24.

    The police further stated that the 14-year-old boy had been released to his parents and would be brought to the police station occasionally to assist with the investigations.

    “The rest of the suspects are in police custody as well as items seized. Suspects would be screened and profiled and those found culpable would be put before the court,” the police added
