Former General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah has added his two cents on the plot to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP) COP George Akuffo Dampare from office.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 monitored by InsightNewsgh.com, the political commentator revealed that IGP is in trouble because some of his own colleagues police officers are pulling hom down.
Bernard Mornah described these police officers as ‘ants’ withing the IGP’s dress biting him. According to him, the only crime IGP Dampare committed is to ensure professionalism in the police force.
“IGP Dampare is in big trouble because the ants are within his dress biting him. The Police Service doesn’t like him. His own officers are there cutting him so that they can remove him. His only crime is introducing professionalism into the Ghana Police Service,” he said.
He added that the two senior police officers caught in the leaked tape to remove the IGP may not like him but they ended up causing sympathy for him.
Mr. Benrard Mornah went on to eulogize IGP Dampare for the great work he did during the Assin North by-elections.

Meanwhile, according to George Alex Mensah, the Director of Operations for the Ghana Police Service, IGP is not effectively running the police force.
The fact that things are not going well under the current IGP is a well-kept secret among the top brass of the police service.
IGP Dampare’s leadership, according to COP Mensah, has caused a decline in morale among many police officers. He was speaking to a parliamentary select committee looking into a leaked tape of the IGP.
“Dampare is not managing the Police Service well and the majority of police officers are not happy. You can call the police officers underground and they will tell you,” COP Mensah told the committee on Thursday, August 31.
