Fatawu Issahaku, a young player from Ghana, has expressed his happiness at finishing a season-long loan transfer to Leicester City in the English Championship.
After transferring from Sporting CP, the 19-year-old is anticipated to settle in and eventually break into the Portuguese club’s first team at the end of the season.
Numerous English clubs have shown interest in the winger, including Crystal Palace, who had an initial offer of €8 million rejected, according to Portuguese and English media.
The youngster who claimed it was the best course of action for him was nonetheless apprehended by the Foxes.
“I’m so happy. This is an amazing moment for me, I’m happy to be here. For me, from looking at Leicester and how I felt about the coach, here is the best place for me,” said Issahaku.
“This was the best moment for me to join Leicester. I chose them because I think they can grow me and help me mature. [Enzo Maresca] told me about the plans he has for me and how he wants me to play – how he wants to help me in my football.”
Given his accomplishments with the youth national teams, the former Dreams FC player has been hailed by many as one of the exciting young people who will rock the world in the near future.

When he assisted Ghana’s Under-20 team in winning the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in March 2021, Fatawu Issahaku achieved success on the international stage and was named player of the event.
He was quickly called up to the Black Stars, where he has already made 14 appearances, including in the Africa Cup of Nations. He also made the final World Cup squad for 2022.
Fatawu Issahaku also contributed significantly to the Black Meteors squad that competed at the recent U-23 AFCON in Morocco.
He scored one goal each in the two-game series against Algeria in the final round of qualifiers to give Ghana a 2-1 victory overall.
Despite his successes with Steadfast FC and Dreams FC in Ghana, he has struggled to have a significant impact at Sporting CP. He is hoping to change that.
