The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has been ordered by an Accra High Court to return Cecilia Dapaah’s money within seven days.

When the OSP seized the former sanitation minister’s assets, she became embroiled in a legal battle. The OSP is now required to give her the money that was seized after the court reversed this decision.

Following the discovery that Madam Dapaah was keeping more than $1 million in her home, the OSP opened a corruption and corruption-related offense investigation into her.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor conducted a thorough search of the minister’s residences following the shocking discovery of stolen funds by her domestic staff. This was due to the staggering amounts that were reported stolen.

Cecilia Dapaah, in the meantime, has characterized the special prosecutor’s application to confirm a freeze and seizure order against her properties as an effort to continue the arbitrary exercise of power based on false information and the ensuing media frenzy.

She claims that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is violating its own legal guidelines and engaging in an arbitrary process that is only motivated by suspicion and fueled by skewed media coverage.

The OSP is currently involved in a legal battle and seeking a court order to support the freezing of Cecilia Abena Dapaah‘s bank account and the seizure of assets inside her home that they believe were obtained illegally.

This action comes after her domestic staff recently disclosed that money had been stolen, which prompted the OSP to search her homes.

Ms. Dapaah resigned on Saturday from her position as minister of sanitation and water resources, which she had held for the previous five years, in order, according to her, to avoid detracting from the government’s work.

She continued by saying she was confident that any investigation would demonstrate that she had acted honorably.
