A group of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling on former president John Dramani Mahama to re-elect Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate for the upcoming general elections in 2024.

The group who have members from Kantamanso, Tema West and East and Ashaiman made this courtesy call on the NDC flagbearer for 2024 election while addressing the media in Ashaiman, Greater Accra.

The leader of the group speaking to the media said, every member of group want Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang to be Mahama’s running mate again.

According to him, Prof. Naana Jane made some significant contributions to the NDC ticket in the 2020 general elections which helped the party garnered almost equal numbers in Parliament.

“Basically, it is not only the people of Ashaiman who want her re-appointment, I think everybody wants her because of the work she did. For a woman to assist a presidential candidate to garnered the numbers that coincide with the ruling government was marvelous,” he said.

Some members of the group also expressed their desire and called on the John Mahama to re-select Prof. Naana Jane to be his running mate based on the contributions and sacrifices she has made for the party.

However, former Adentan MP and Director for Special Duties for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Kojo Adu Asare, has urged Mr. John Mahama, the party’s nominee for the 2024 elections, to think about picking a different running mate than Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman before the elections.

In an exclusive interview with the Overseer newspaper, Kojo Adu Asare acknowledged that Naana Opoku Agyeman is a wonderful woman who embodies all the virtues that a good person can, but that she is simply not a good politician for a position as running mate.

She had a chance in the 2020 election, but she squandered it, he claimed.
