Hopeson Adorye, a member of the campaign team for the Alan Kyerematen flagbearership, has been reported to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) disciplinary committee for acting inappropriately during the recently concluded Super Delegates Conference.
Adorye will appear before the committee alongside Musa Sulemana, Raphael Patrick Sarfo, Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo, and flagbearer candidate Kennedy Agyapong.
In a statement, the party claimed that the referral to the disciplinary committee was in response to evidence, including video and photographic materials, that suggested possible contraventions of the party’s Constitution’s Article 3(5)(A) provisions and a possible infraction of Article 4(7).
Kennedy Agyapong will be called before the disciplinary committee to give explanations and additional information regarding the accusations and threats he made against specific people in a video that has since gone viral on social media and in the media, it was further stated.
This comes after Hopeson Adorye made a number of shocking revelations on August 26, 2023, at the NPP headquarters after the votes had been tabulated and announced.
He asserted that votes for Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia were obtained through the exchange of enormous sums of cash in both foreign and local currencies.
He claims that, “In this election, money played a role, money, money. Money played a role, we are unafraid to make these claims. You could give someone US$5,000, what are you talking about?”
“We also shared money…but whose was bigger? How can you give one person 100,000 cedis to go and vote?” he asked.
“What are you talking about? Go to Ashanti Region and ask,” Hopeson Adorye added.
Meanwhile, the next phase of Alan Kyerematen’s campaign to lead the governing NPP into the 2024 general elections will soon be unveiled.
The former trade and industry minister announced that after his team has finished analyzing the results of the Super Delegates Elections held on Saturday, August 26, he will deliver a public broadcast within a week.
On Sunday, August 28, he urged his supporters to maintain their composure in a press release.
