Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has reacted to the threats by flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong following the alleged attack on his polling agent in the Northern Region.

When his agent was abruptly ejected from a polling place, Agyapong expressed his anger during the incident during the national conference.

In response to the alleged mistreatment of his agents, Ken Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central, was seen making stern threats against President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia.

According to him, he will give President Nana Addo and Veep Dr. Bawumia a showdown for chasing out his agent from polling station.

After this, Chairman Wontumi slammed Ken Agyapong’s coordinator, Mr. Kwame Owusu for making distress call to the MP for Assin Central in the heat of the elections which caused Agyapong to go berserk.

According to Chairman Wontumi, Kwame Owusu knowing very well Agyapong has anger issues should have known how to address the issue better rather than going straightforward to report the incident to the flagbearer aspirant.

He further explained that he was very close to Mr. Kwame Owusu and every five minutes, he would call Agyapong and give him update on everything that went on across the 16 regions.

“Something happened today, Kennedy is somewhere and you know Kennedy is a firebrand. We were there when we heard something has happened in the Northern Region and quickly the people who were there called Kennedy to inform him, specifically it was my uncle Mr. Kwame Owusu. And you know times like this his energy will be high and you’re not there and you call him to report the incident to him, meanwhile we have the police and other agents over there, why is he the person to talk?” he said.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong was reported to the NPP disciplinary committee as a result of his confrontational threats made on August 26 during the Super Delegate Conference.

The statement went on to emphasize that Kennedy Agyapong will also be called before the Disciplinary Committee under the aforementioned constitutional provisions to answer for the accusations and threats he made against particular people, as seen in a video that has gained popularity on social media and in mainstream media.

According to the most recent reports, the lawmaker actually said those things during a radio interview.
