Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has wondered why Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen refused Majority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu’s offer to become flagbearer hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate.

According to him, if the former Trade Minister had accepted the offer from the MP for Suame Constituency, he wouldn’t have finished in a third position in the just-ended NPP super delegates congress.

At the end of the NPP special delegates conference which was held in over 16 regions plus the party’s headquarters, Dr. Bawumia pulled 629 votes while Kennedy Agyapong finished 2nd with 132 vote, shockingly Alan Kyerematen had only 99 votes.

Following this, Chairman Wontumi believes that the focus will now be on Dr. Bawumia and Ken Agyapong.

“Alan Kyerematen should have accepted Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu’s offer,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wontumi has blasted Mr. Kwame Owusu for placing a distress call to Ken Agyapong following the alleged manhandling of the MP’s polling agent in the Noethern Region.

According to Chairman Wontumi, Kwame Owusu knowing very well Agyapong has anger issues should have known how to address the issue better rather than going straightforward to report the incident to the flagbearer aspirant.

In a related news, Kennedy Agyapong was reported to the NPP disciplinary committee as a result of his confrontational threats made on August 26 during the Super Delegate Conference.

The statement went on to emphasize that Kennedy Agyapong will also be called before the Disciplinary Committee under the aforementioned constitutional provisions to answer for the accusations and threats he made against particular people, as seen in a video that has gained popularity on social media and in mainstream media.

According to the most recent reports, the lawmaker actually said those things during a radio interview.
